ATTITUDE & GRATITUDE

See the Big Pitcher
Half Empty or Half Full? | Glass and Pitcher | Fathering Leadership

A familiar question asked when you are trying to help someone improve their attitude is: “Do you see your glass as half empty or half full?” Reality tells us that even though the facts around your life don’t change…you can still choose a positive attitude.

Then you might ask the question, “Do you appreciate the glass that’s holding your life together?” With each thirsty sip and although your talents and resources are limited, you should give thanks for heaven’s help in holding together everything you treasure.

After sharing my ‘see the glass’ idea with my wife, I then added the comment that we should all see the big picture. She smiled and replied, “Yes, we should all see the big pitcher.” I appreciated her agreeing with me but then wondered why she was giving me ‘that smile’. Slowly, yet finally, I realized what she meant. She was so wisely helping me understand. Not only should we see the glass that’s holding us together, we should also…

SEE THE BIG PITCHER

which continues filling our life with blessings.

God Will Exalt Your Faithful Effort | Fathering Leadership

Faithful Effort

A father never wants to hear their child say of themselves that they are worthless. A child who thinks of themselves as worthless may be listening to others who brag of their looks, fortune, or social status. Comparing oneself with flashy, loud, and teasing bystanders will never define a person’s worth.

Treat Others the Way You Want to Be Treated | Fathering Leadership

Love One Another

Unfortunately, many people don’t treat themselves very well and there are some who don’t even know what it’s like to be treated with kindness. We live in a pretty tough world. Nevertheless, fathers can help create a better world for themselves and for their family.

Prepare Me to Live with Thee | Fathering Leadership

Prepare Me…Please

The Apostle Thomas wasn’t prepared for the news that Jesus had risen from the dead. He declared, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

The Law and Grace | Fathering Leadership

The Law and Grace

If you or I were to jump from a high cliff we would fall to our death…unless we were an eagle! In which case the law of gravity would interact marvelously with the laws of flight and we would soar high above the ground.
