PREPARE ME...PLEASE
As Fathers, Are We Prepared?
The Apostle Thomas wasn’t prepared for the news that Jesus had risen from the dead. He declared, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25)
As fathers, are we prepared?
Are we prepared not only to see with our eyes and feel with our hands but to then live eternally with Jesus, the Christ? “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans 8:11) Perhaps Thomas then recalled the words of Job from the Old Testament, “And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; thoughmy reins be consumed within me.” (Job 19:26-27)
How can one be prepared for such a life changing event? We may want to study the life of this Jesus who said, “follow me.” (John 16:24) Then we can begin to believe in Him, try to keep His commandments, and receive His Spirit to be with us. “Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.” (Ether 12:4)
“if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear.”
(Doctrine and Covenants 38:30)
Tonight, and perhaps every night, we may wish to pray for help to prepare now for that better day when we can live with Jesus forever.
Please,
Prepare me to live with Thee!
